In addition to working with runners I have an extensive background in treating CrossFit injuries.  I offer a CrossFit Specific Assessment for both beginning and experienced CrossFit athletes.  This includes an evaluation of all the basic CrossFit movements in relation to the mobility and stabilization requirements of those movements.

After working with thousands of CrossFit athletes I have discovered predictable patterns of dysfunction that affect multiple movements and that foster muscle imbalances.  Chronic tightness and excessive muscle soreness/impaired recovery is directly related to these compensation patterns.

The CrossFit Performance Assessment identifies range of motion limitations, compromised movement patterns, and provides a scored injury risk profile.  Whether you are a beginning CrossFitter that has trouble getting into a full body weight squat, an advanced CrossFitter that experiences problems under heavy loads or after high repetitions, or a CrossFit competitor that is looking for performance optimization – this assessment will transform your workouts.

CrossFit Performance Assessment

  • Identifies muscle imbalances
  • Identifies limitations in range of motion
  • Includes a core stability screen
  • Breathing & bracing screen
  • Analysis of seven fundamental movement patterns
  • Endurance testing of myofascial chains
  • Manual muscle testing to identify weak muscles
  • Evaluation of spinal alignment and joint centration
  • Testing of patterns that break down under heavy loads
  • Bodyweight mastery protocol

Specific assessments relevant to the key movements found in CrossFit workouts will be utilized – whether or not you have an existing problem – so that you will understand what you need to focus on to enhance your performance.

Fascial Stretch Therapy for CrossFit Athletes

In 2011, I published an article in the CrossFit Journal about the type of bodywork that can best address the needs of CrossFit athletes.  I have personally worked with dozens of CrossFit gyms to help their members optimize their performance.  While CrossFit athletes tend to be pro-active about self-care, the missing component of many CrossFit regimes is high quality soft-tissue work from a qualified provider.

In 2014, I worked with East Valley CrossFit who qualified for the CrossFit Games Team Competition.  I published a case study in the IASI Journal based on my experience working extensively with an athlete that was experiencing low back pain leading up to the 2014 CrossFit Games.  After treatment she qualified for the 2014 CrossFit Games Individual Competition.

While Fascial Stretch Therapy is regularly used by NFL players (both teams in the 2018 Super Bowl utilized FST as a part of training) it is CrossFit competitors who can really benefit from this style of assisted stretching.

You can schedule your FREE Introductory CrossFit Performance Assessment by using the link at the bottom of this page which includes thirty minutes of Fascial Stretch Therapy and a 3 Week Personalized Rehabilitative Exercise Program.

“My arm felt better after 15 minutes of stretching with you before my CrossFit competition than it’s felt in months. – Kare Williams (Women’s SicFit Competition Masters Winner)

“For the first time in years I was able to run without pain.  Kevin is one of the top experts in understanding human movement and what CrossFitters need to get the best results from their workout.” – Jake Parent (Owner of Tribal CrossFit)

“Kevin’s help in rehabbing my shoulder has been more effective than Mayo Clinic Physical Therapy.” – Mary Schwartz (CrossFit Scottsdale Member)

“This is the closest thing I’ve found to a real, lasting, “silver bullet” in 18 years in fitness– Maceo Jourdan (CrossFit Maricopa Member)

“After improving my flexibility with Kevin, I set two personal records in one week in two different lifts.” – Joe Atkielski (CrossFit Scottsdale Member)

“Last week I pressed more weight overhead than I ever thought possible. Flexibility is integral to strength, if you don’t have full range of motion you will not gain strength.” – Bud Hart (CrossFit Scottsdale Member)

“After Kevin’s workshop I passed my Level 2 Fitness Test. Using synchronized breathing and movement has made stretching much more effective.” – Rudy Frame (CrossFit Scottsdale Member)

“I’ve utilized Active Release Technique, foam rolling, and massage in the past. However, I haven’t done any long-term work to address global compensation patterns so that I can perform better as an athlete and CrossFit competitor. Working with Kevin has definitely done that for me.” – Luke Kayyem (Owner of CrossFit Scottsdale)

“I set a personal record in my Snatch last week after doing the ‘Core-Four’ stretches pre-workout for the first time.” – Nathan Atchison (CrossFit Scottsdale Member)

“Kevin helped me immensely. I was off my feet for six months with injuries and his instruction was a big part of my recovery getting back to work and training back in the gym.” – Darren Marinis

“I worked out five days this week and I didn’t experience any of the typical soreness after my workouts.” – Sarah Sanchez (Ahwatukee CrossFit Member)

“The ‘Core-Four’ stretches have dramatically improved my running. The hip tightness is gone.” – Robert Scovill (CrossFit Scottsdale Member)

“Stretching is not one-size fits all. The assessment that we did helped me identify the two areas I needed to stretch, I got a lot of great tools on stretching them on my own.” – Julie Delaney (Ahwatukee CrossFit Coach)

“I’m finally moving in the right direction. I resolved my Achilles tendon injury and my joint pain and stiffness.” – JoAnn Siros (CrossFit Newbury Park Member)
