My Background

My journey began over a decade ago in the strength and conditioning field.  I am originally from Chicago but moved to Southern California in 2007.  While I have experience as a strength coach and was also a CrossFit coach for a few years – I discovered that many people experience problems while trying to improve their general fitness level and/or during training for their particular sport.  I realized that I wanted to focus on treating and preventing injuries rather than providing strength training or conditioning.

This inspired me to seek out soft-tissue therapies that could eliminate pain and improve someone’s quality of movement.  In 2008 I became certified in a form of assisted stretching called Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST).  I worked out of two different physical therapy clinics providing FST while helping establish two different CrossFit gyms in Southern California.

In 2010, I moved to Phoenix, Arizona to enroll in a 500-hour program for a type of soft-tissue therapy called Structural Integration.  I worked out of a chiropractic office and a wellness clinic while in school where I was exposed to a variety of injuries from many local runners.

After completing this one-year program I launched my Phoenix based business in 2011 establishing my own office as well as working out of two different CrossFit gyms.  For the next three years I focused on treating CrossFit injuries and building my business by working local running events.

At this time, I also began offering workshops and weekly classes out of CrossFit gyms to teach rehabilitative exercises to CrossFitters and local runners.  I ended up expanding my workshops to over a dozen different gyms in the area.

In 2014 I moved back to my hometown of Chicago.  For 2.5 years I worked alongside two chiropractors in a busy chiropractic clinic developing and directing the rehabilitation program for the patients in the clinic.

Instead of having a full hour to assess and treat patients I was limited to 15-minute intervals in which I had to provide quick solutions for chronic pain, muscle imbalances, and complex problems.

This lead me to further my training and in 2016 I became certified in three different post-graduate physical therapy approaches to rehabilitation including Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS), PRI (Postural Restoration Institute), and Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT).

By understanding developmental kinesiology, asymmetries driven by respiration and neurology, and utilizing manual muscle testing to detect muscular imbalances, I was able to refine my approach and provide quick solutions to chronic and complex musculoskeletal problems.

After gaining valuable experience working with thousands of patients in this busy Chicago chiropractic office – I realized that in order to work with patients in a more comprehensive way I would need to re-establish my own business.  The traditional physical therapy and chiropractic business models that are based off of insurance coverage present a number of obstacles to delivering the best quality service that I can offer.

In 2019 I decided to move to San Diego to focus on working with runners that are able to compete all year round.  As, “The Runners Repairman” I am committed to providing a unique experience for runners that far exceeds typical treatment that is merely centered around eliminating pain and symptoms without making runners stronger than they were before they encountered problems.
