Kevin Kula, “The Runners Repairman” is dedicated to helping runners eliminate injuries, optimize their athletic performance, and successfully recover from vigorous training regimens.

The fact is, that one third of runners will have to take time off of training every year due to some type of injury.

Yet runners often don’t have a single event that pinpoints the cause of their injury.  Running injuries often manifest over time and are often difficult to treat.  Many runners continue to suffer injuries – even after seeing a chiropractor, physical therapist, running coach, or personal trainer.

The most common cause of recurring running injuries is dysfunctional movement – perpetuated by muscle imbalances, inflexibility, and compromised running form that is not addressed with running drills alone.

Successful treatment for running injuries needs to restore fundamental movement patterns, range of motion, and allow for gains in strength capacity to support endurance related attributes that long-distance running requires.

I offer an integrated approach to treating and preventing running injuries so that you will have the physical freedom and mental confidence to put in the miles that will prepare you for your running events throughout the year.

This is accomplished by taking runners through a thorough and comprehensive physical assessment process that directs treatment.  This running specific assessment greatly increases the effectiveness of both the manual therapy that I provide and aids in selecting the most effective exercises that you will be performing on your own.

The initial consultation that I offer (free running assessment) will ensure that your problem is within the scope of my practice and ensure that it is something that I can resolve within an established treatment timeline.

Experienced and Specialized in Treating Runners

I have personally worked with hundreds of runners that were plagued with chronic and recurring injuries.  Many health care providers claim to offer solutions for every type of problem and for every type of athlete.  While effective treatment does often help a wide variety of individuals – the truth is that providers that do not specialize in a given field are less effective in understanding and treating that type of individual.

Taking a runner through the same movement screen as a golfer will not be as effective as actually utilizing a running specific assessment protocol.

A Unique and Integrative Approach

I specialize in understanding the mechanics of running which is influenced by how air is displaced throughout your body (respiration), the movement of your ribcage and pelvis (biomechanics), and how the nervous system functions (neurology).

By factoring in how you breathe, move, and recover from training I can better understand running form than someone that strictly looks at the isolated movements of muscles, joints, and the spine.

I understand that not every runner has the same amount of time, money, and energy to invest in treatment.  Rather than expecting you to commit to a certain number of sessions – I will thoroughly explain what I can accomplish in a given amount of time.  I offer different package options for runners with different goals.

The Introductory Package is focused on eliminating pain and injury and getting the casual runner back to competing without worrying about future problems that may arise.

The Pro Package is geared towards competitive long-distance runners that want to fully optimize their movement capability in the most efficient way possible.

The All-Star Package is for the year-round runner who understands the importance of regular maintenance and continued monitoring of form and function.

I tailor my approach to your wants and needs and will use a combination of assisted stretching and rehabilitative exercise that fits your goals and commitment level.
